Recently, Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali attended the closing ceremony of the Model United Nations Conference (WELMUN), themed ‘Solidarity from Strife’ organized by the Welham Boy’s School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
While congratulating the organizers, the Ambassador appreciated their efficiency in bringing out for a fruitful conference. Dr. Abdali in his valedictory remarks emphasized the need of such conferences which highlight people to people contact by integrating youth from different regions of the country.
The Afghan Ambassador also highlighted on a past program organized by the Welham Boy’s School for Afghan students and solicited the continuation of such programs and trainings to enhance connectivity and togetherness among Indo-Afghan youth.
During the event, Ms. Gunmmet Bindra, the Principal-Welham Boy’s School welcomed the suggestion of the Afghan Ambassador and put forth a request to organize a three-month training program for Afghan students in the near future.
It is worth mentioning that the Welham Boy’s School is the only high-quality school in India, established by a British trust in 1937. The said event was comprised of over 1,000 school children from 24 various schools in India.
Mr. Mirwais Nazari, the Third Secretary to the Embassy accompanied the Afghan Ambassador in the event.
