In a meeting with H.E Dr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali on Wednesday, Mr Vibhu Talwar, Managing Director of Moolchand Healthcare Group expressed his company’s interest to tie up with hospitals and medical institutions in Afghanistan particularly to forge cooperation in areas such as medical training and telemedicine.
The Hospital Director, briefed Ambassador Abdali about the profile and services as well as the company’s experience of establishing similar collaboration with African countries.
Ambassador thanked the Moolchand’s director for his interest in expanding its company’s services to Afghanistan and informed him that the Afghan Embassy received similar proposal from other hospitals as a result of which the Embassy facilitated the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan and nine major Indian hospitals. He added that the MoU not only commits these hospitals to provide a transparent health services but also lays out the terms of medical collaboration between the two sides. Ambassador Abdali suggested Mr Talwar to first become a party to this MoU which will also server as a framework for cooperation. Further on, the Afghan Ambassador encouraged him to send a representative of his company to Afghanistan to interact with officials from Ministry of Health and with private hospitals and medical institution to explore the opportunities and scope available for business in healthcare.
Ambassador Abdali designated the Economic Section of the embassy to take forward the said company’s proposal.
Mr. Shoib Habibi, Economic Councilor, and Abdulhaq Azad, Press Secretary of the Embassy were also present at the meeting.
